Fly over the historic Medicine Mounds Ranch as you hunt hogs from helicopter. As you travel west on Highway 287 between Vernon and Quanah, four hills rise south of the road. These ancient eroded hills, or the "Medicine Mounds," have been landmarks for generations of human inhabitants of the region. The Comanches who traveled this area in the 17th to 19th centuries relied on the Mounds as a source for healing plants, mineral waters, and as a place for vision quests. They are currently part of a privately-owned 20,000-acre cattle ranch. The team considers itself a steward of the native flora and fauna, and diligently manages native wildlife. The ranch hosts corporate retreats, managed hunts, and public events, and the ranch store in Quanah offers a full range of hunting supplies. Guests learn about the history of the property and enjoy the best amenities at the lodge.
